World Cup '99

India

India is a team which is arguably the best in the world , but on paper. The team is bursting with potential and each player on his day can turn the world around. Spearheaded by the best batsman in the world ... Sachin Tendulkar , they also hold some key records in 99 , for eg , their opening paterniship is the best wit an average of over 70 ! Their bowling attack will not only depend on county experienced Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath who were devastating in them a couple of years ago but also on Prasad , Mohannty & Agarkar ... the first two can move the ball prodigiously, and if India make it to the super six Nikhil Chopra with his tight bowling could be important since the English weather would improve by then.
In the batting department , apart from the openers the impish Jadeja along with he technically sound Dravid and well experienced Azhar could surprise a lot of people . Robin Singh though out of form of late is capable of turning the game aroung on the basis of his feilding alone.Mongia as a wicket keeper is the best suited for Indias mixture of spin & pace and for some lustfull hitting , Khurasiya & Ramesh (thigh his foot movement may be suspect) could be winners.Ganguly,Sachin & Jadeja should chip in with the ball as well.Their crunch moment will be against the Proteans on the 15th if they get past that it should be smooth sailing for them.

The Team is as follows

Sachin Tendulkar J. Srinath
Anil Kumble Sadagopan Ramesh
Saurav Ganguly A.R. Khurasiya
Rahul Dravid Mohd Azharuddin (captain)
Nayan Mongia(wc) B.K.V. Prasad
Ajay Jadeja (vice-captan) Debasis Mohanty
Ajit Agarkar Nikhil Chopra
Robin Singh
