World Cup '99

The Carnival of Cricket ! The true quest for a champion ! The World Cup has moved back to England for what seams to be the biggest World Cup yet. This world cup is slated to bring in 50 million pounds ! That's roughly Rs. 350 Crore ! Wait that's not where it stops , the winning team would get $300,000 runners-up $150,000 and semifinalists $1000,000 . Well other than the money aspect the World Cup this year is going to be a hell of a contest. The South Africans have entered as favorites with the Pakistanis and Aussies close on their heels . But can the defending champions pull off another victory ? Can India cast another magic spell ?Who knows? We'll have to wait and see ... for now all we can say is

Lets start with the basics , the teams and the schedule. This timeround the participating teams are India, England , Pakistan ,Australia , South Africa ,West Indies,New Zealand,Zimbabwe , Sri Lanka , Kenya, Bangladesh and Scotland . The various teams are given below and the schedules are available on the next page.

Each group has 6 teams and three from each make it to the super six , where they each play with all the qualifying teams of the other group which are followed by the semis and then the finals .
