World Cup '99

The Springboks have the least experience (among full members) but the highest success rate og nearly 67% ! They go into this tounament as the 'bookie' favourites. The odds being offered on them is 3:1. Eversince the 92 world cup when Jonty broke Inzies stumps and became a legend. The greatest strength of the Peoteans is their high quality options. Everyone except Gibbs,Kirsten & Jonty bowl well enough not to be considered as part timers. I clearly remember a couple of occasions where Cullinans offspin has won a match for S.A . Allan Donald & Shaun Pollock will be devastating anywhere in the world , and Kallis & Crojne would be vital with their seam bowling.
As for their everyone is a competent bat. Donald too has immensly improved his batting. Kallis is in top form (he leads in the Ceat Ratings) and is expected to be of the calliber of winning matches single handedly.With Kirsten & Crojne they have a lot of experience and Cullinan won't have to worry about spin bowling here.
And lets not forget , they ar ethe best fielding side in the world , and Rhodes and Gibbs lead by example.
They surprisingly have picked two spinners and at the same time left out Paul Adams and more importantly Pat Symcox .We'll surely miss Symcox.
So far so good ... but what needs to be considered his their performance in crunch ,atches , either they have been too unlucky or they lack will to wrap up a series. It not surprising for them to win all their matches in the league stage and then lose out in the knock-outs or the finals ! This is exactly what happened in the '96 cup , after winning all their matches they lost to the Windies in the knockouts !
